Dermatologist Jobs

Individuals with dermatologist jobs diagnose and treat their patients that have disorders of the skin including acne, birth-marks, skin cancer, fungal infections, eczema, and psoriasis. Examining the affected area and taking samples for further analysis under a microscope or other tests, individuals with dermatologist jobs can then make a diagnosis. Dermatologists can then recommend treatment which can range from medication, surgery, and radiotherapy.

After completion of a bachelor’s degree, prospective dermatologists must attend medical school to fulfill formal training and work for three years at an accredited dermatology residency program. A certifying examination administered by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD) will follow. This certification will also need to be re-taken every ten years.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment is expected to grow faster than the national average for all occupations during the 2006 to 2016 decade. This rate can be attributed to the rising amount of elderly persons in the population who will need additional health care. Advancements in medical technology will also change treatments and diagnosis’s as more people will receive health care.
