Medical Technologists Jobs

Medical Technologists jobs are responsible for operating equipment to perform diagnostic tests on patients to determine illnesses and monitor the progress of their treatment. Mainly found in clinical laboratories or in the bio-technological industry, these professionals also evaluate samples and examine vital signs for their patients.

The minimum educational requirement for a medical technologist job is a bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related life science discipline. Accredited programs can be found locally at community colleges, universities, and colleges. Certification and licensure are also necessary before becoming employed and vary based on the state.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is an expected 14 percent increase over the course of the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of employment will be faster than the national average for all occupations. Medical technology advancements and a rising elderly population will create a favorable employment market. Many openings will occur based on the need to replace workers that leave for different jobs or exit the work force entirely.
