Radiologist Jobs

Radiologist jobs perform tests that make use of specialized imaging systems that are able to diagnose specific medical conditions within their patients. Examining parts of the body to produce diagnoses that are compared to other examinations and tests, radiograph machines ensure that a proper health care plan may be developed. These professionals also administer substances that render the internal organs visible to these machines so that they may be properly mapped.

Education for these professionals involves 4 years of undergraduate study, 4 years of an accredited medical program, finish a year long internship program, and finally complete a 4 year long residency within the radiology field. Individuals can opt to study in a multitude of disciplines including emergency radiology, interventional radiology, and nuclear radiology.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there will be a sizable increase in employment of 17 percent over the 2008 to 2018 decade. This rate of employment will be faster than the national average for all occupations with the expansion of health care and a rising elderly population the main factors for employment demand. New advancements in technology will also lead to more opportunities for patients to seek treatment for their conditions creating a favorable job climate.
